Now that the sun is hitting us hard again, it’s time to clean off that persistent red dust and fire up the solar panels.
Solar panels can lose around 20% of their efficiency if they are covered in dirt (per the Solar Energy Power Association) and let’s face it, dirt has become part of the rain in Melbourne these days! Dirt also has a tendency to attract more dirt, which is why you get build ups.
One way you can make your solar panels work more effectively and last longer is to have them regularly cleaned. At Dynamic Cleaning, we use water-fed poles to access even those tricky to reach panels.
Often people don’t think twice about their solar panels once they are installed, until something goes wrong. But having them cleaned annually (or more often if required) ensures the investment you made remains an investment and not a liability.
At Dynamic Cleaning, we can make your solar panels sparkle and help them do what they do best – create power.

Pressure cleaning is one of the most satisfying ways to clean you outdoor areas. But it does take some skill as the same pressure that can remove years of grime can also cut a brick in half!
Most people believe pressure cleaning is easy because many people have the small pressure cleaners they use on their car. However, a proper pressure cleaner can do a fair amount of damage if you don’t know how to control it properly. If grout is breaking up or the concrete is coming away, using a pressure cleaner can make the damage worse and shoot bits of rubble at high speed into things like windows. These are all avoidable and if you are careful and do a test section before trying to clean the whole area, the results of pressure washing your driveway or backyard are amazing.
Does Pressure Cleaning involve chemicals?
No – when using a high pressure cleaner the water pressure is all that is needed to clean the area. Most pressure cleaners don’t use chemicals or hot water to get the job done.
What else can be cleaned with a pressure washer?
Patios, brick paths, wooden decking and driveways are the most common areas to get cleaned but you can even clean your whole house with a pressure washer. So many outdoor areas can be cleaned quickly and safely with a pressure cleaner. Not only can you clean the decking around you pool but we you can also pressure clean the inside of your pool. It will look amazing once it has been thoroughly cleaned and imagine how much healthier it will be once the scum is blasted away. We can also clean fake grass and tennis courts.
At Dynamic Cleaning, we know how to expertly use any sized water pressure cleaner so your home gets perfectly cleaned, without the damage!
The warmer weather is starting to set in and the sunshine is lasting longer, so now is the perfect time to get your house spring cleaned. At Dynamic Cleaning, we can clean your windows, gutters and those difficult-to-reach areas (such as chandeliers) with no problem at all.
Why would I get my windows cleaned when it is still raining?
People sometimes put off having their windows cleaned because of rain. They think the rain will make their windows dirty but in actual fact, the rain isn’t what makes your windows look dirty. It is the dust and dirt in the air. And if your windows are dirty, the rain will make the dirt streak down your glass and leave your windows muddy. If your windows are cleaned, then the rain washes straight off and the glass will still look clean.
When my windows are cleaned, should I get my frames and screens done too?
Any window cleaner should always clean the frames and screens. This removes dust that accumulates on them and should always be done as part of the clean. If your cleaner doesn’t do this, ask them to. It should be part of the service.
How many times a year should I get my windows cleaned?
As a general rule, we suggest to our customers to get them cleaned twice. This keeps the dust and mold from forming spores. Some clients prefer to have their windows done more regularly too, especially if they have pets or young children. It really depends on what your preferences are and how dusty and dirty your windows get.
People sometimes ask “Why would someone pay to have something done that they can do themselves?” And it’s true, most people could clean their own windows. But they usually don’t. We have so little time in our busy lives and cleaning our own windows isn’t often a priority.
Besides making your home look and feel cleaner, there are many reasons to have your windows washed by a professional cleaner. We will look at some of them but in the end, it really is something you need to decide for yourself. Of course a window cleaner will tell you it’s something that must be done (and probably more often than is truly necessary) but here we will just look at the benefits to having your windows cleaned.
You will have more time.
Window Cleaning can take several hours and, let’s face it, we don’t always have that much time on our weekends to spend doing something a professional can do in half the time. Window cleaners often have it done to an art and can clean your windows while you get on with more important things.
Window cleaners have the right gear.
Professional window cleaners have the right gear to get the best result. They also know things like how often you have to change the blade (that’s the rubber bit on a squeegee) to get a perfect clean. Another thing most cleaners know is what not to use on certain types of glass so they are not scratched or damaged by chemical. You could use the olden-days technique of using wet and dry newspaper, but no one really has newspaper anymore and also see first point above…
Window cleaners can get it done safely.
Often window cleaning requires working at heights and a professional window cleaner knows how to access those tricky spots. Whether there is a bush in the way or hard-to-reach glass, window cleaning can sometimes be a test of ones problem solving skills. Professional window cleaners come across these situations all the time and even enjoy the challenge.
Having clean windows has health benefits.
Dust collects on and around windows. And mold can grow in this dust, which is especially true in rooms that get damp – such as the kitchen, bathroom and laundry. Even bedrooms can get damp with all that breathing going on. The water in the air condenses on the windows, mixes with the dust and voilà – mold. Having the windows and fly-screens cleaned regularly keeps your home free of dust and therefore mold and this reduces respiratory problems, especially in the young and the old.
It looks and feels good.
Having clean windows allows the natural light to come in and it looks great. You can definitely feel the difference when the windows are cleaned and this is often the most popular reason why people get their windows cleaned.
At Dynamic Cleaning, we have been up a ladder cleaning windows in the Eastern suburbs for many years and we would love the chance to help keep your windows clean too.
Knowing if your gutters are blocked or full can be difficult when you don’t have easy access to them. In fact, most people will not think about their gutters at all throughout the year.
Unfortunately, this blissful ignorance can lead to gutters becoming blocked and even, like the ones illustrated here, a miniature garden. When plants start growing in your gutters, it is often visible from the ground. But how can you tell if they are blocked or full if there are no obvious weeds hanging over the edge?
If you feel comfortable climbing a ladder, the best way to check your gutters is to climb up and look for yourself. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that, it is best to call a professional and ask them to check for you. Feel free to ask for photos too – it is so easy these days to show a client what is happening in their roof and if it gives you peace of mind, they should be happy to provide it.
There are also other warning signs that you gutters may be blocked once the rain starts coming down. Things such as:
Water pouring over the gutters in one particular spot. This can be a sign that the water isn’t flowing freely.
Pools of water collecting around your house. This can also signal a blocked drain or down pipe.
Gutter distortion. The guttering may start to buckle and distort if they are full, especially when dirt and plants start to grow in them.
Water damage/stains on the ceiling. This is the heart-breaker because by the time water is in your ceiling, you know that there is possible major damage to the roof and it can cost you.
The best thing to do to avoid any problems with your gutters and drains is to make sure you get them cleaned regularly by a professional gutter cleaner.
At Dynamic Cleaning we’ve been cleaning roofs and gutters throughout Melbourne’s Eastern Suburbs for over 15 years and we know how to look after your home. We service areas in and around Vermont South, Blackburn, Hawthorn, Mitcham, Mont Albert and many more.
Cleaning gutters can be hard and dirty work but it is one of the necessary home maintenance jobs that everyone knows should be done. Your gutters need to be kept clean and free of dead leaves, gum nuts, birds’ nests, and all other debris. It’s simply one of the responsibilities that comes with owning a home.
It is especially true in Melbourne; our summers can be so hot and dry and this causes trees to drop more than just leaves onto our roofs. Small branches, twigs and gum nuts all drop and then get caught in the guttering. This organic material accumulates in your gutters during the dry summer and you usually won’t even notice until your gutters start overflowing during the first big rain in winter or, even worse, you may not even notice it at all.
In this article, we will look at a few questions many homeowners have about cleaning their gutters; including why it should be done, how often it should be done, and exactly how it should be done.
Why should I clean my gutters?
If you don’t clean your gutters regularly, the leaves and debris will start to break down and decompose. This compost may be great for the garden but it is not good for your roof. It will stay damp and get moldy and this can end up in your roof and house. The other thing that can happen is your roof can leak because the water that should be running off your house via the gutters isn’t. And if rainwater sits in your guttering system, it can stagnate and then flow back into your roof in a downpour and then you have all sorts of (costly) problems.
Replacing your roof or removing mold and repainting your ceiling is a massive job and completely unnecessarily as long as you avoid creating conditions for that to occur.
Gutters can also be a snug little home for insects, birds, mice and other animals. Compost is warm and contains bugs that feed the pests so cleaning gutters also discourages your home becoming a home to all creatures, great and small.
How often should I get my gutters cleaned?
This can be a difficult question to answer because of one factor – TREES. All trees are not equal and in Melbourne and the Eastern Suburbs especially, we are lucky to have a large variety of big, beautiful trees. Some trees drop foliage all year round (such as the Eucalyptus varieties) whilst others, like the deciduous types (oaks, silver birch, maple and elms) only drop leaves in Autumn.
Many experts recommend cleaning your gutters at least twice a year – once at the end of Autumn and again at the end of Spring. This is generally a good idea but there can be other circumstances that may necessitate cleaning them more, or less, regularly.
For instance, if you have pine trees growing close to your home, you should have your gutters checked and cleaned every 3 months. Pine trees shed needles all year round and they often have lots to lose.
If, however, you don’t have trees hanging over your roof, then it is perfectly reasonable to have your gutters cleaned just once a year.
How should I clean my gutter?
Cleaning out gutters isn’t particularly hard but it can be messy, dirty work. The best way to clean gutters is generally by hand but a high pressure hose can help clear out blockages and flush the down pipes.
Here are a few tips to make the job easier, safer, and more effective:
Wear proper protection. Wear gloves and eye protection for your safety.
Don’t just throw the rubbish in your gutters on the ground Put it in a bin or bag to be composted. Leaving it on the ground can be slippery and cause ladders to slip.
Seal any leaks you find. Use a sealant and keep an eye out for any broken tiles that might need replacing or sealing too.
Pay extra attention to mold. A diluted solution of bleach and water in a spray bottle can be used to clean any mold you come across.
Be safe. Whenever you’re working on a ladder or on your roof, there’s a chance of injury. Have someone help you, like hold the ladder, and don’t do anything if you feel unsafe.
It’s important to clean your gutters. And while it may be a job you are able to do yourself, you may feel better knowing an experienced professional has done the job right.
